FileMaker 12 coming to PestaRoo!

May 2012. Normally we only share completed items in our “What’s New”. But this news is a pre-announcement: We are busy converting PestaRoo to FileMaker 12! Hooray! Those of you who have been with us for many years know that we skipped FileMaker 11 because of a value list bug that was a pain to work around. (But at least we saved everyone some money.) But FileMaker 12 resolves this critical bug and brings some highly useful new tools to PestaRoo’s palette. We are building our list of features to implement and it is exciting. Faster operation, cleaner layouts with gradients, easier updates, better connections for iPads and iPhones, resolution of the double footer bug, quicker backups, drag and drop of images, and storage of images outside the actual database. And at least 5 more surprises! This is going to be a wonderful update. When? We are aiming for late summer. This will be worth the wait!

Location Name on Route Sheets

April 2012. Location Name now prints on the Route sheets. This is useful for Customers with multiple locations. A classic example is a the various dorms for a college.

Daily Stats

April 2012. Daily Stats are now complete. This wonderful new feature allows you view data for any single date, showing the YTD data for that date, and the top ten ranked services by dollar and count. For that date, you also see the numbers for the previous two years for comparison. Yes, you can print these summaries, or just view them. And, the system allows you to view stats from your legacy data for all previous years! This is going to be one of the most loved features in PestaRoo. Let us know if you would like a free update to start using this great new report. A special ‘Thank You’ to Brian M. for the great idea! With this release of Daily Stats, our suite of Stat functions is now complete. We have Daily, Monthly, Yearly, and Customer Stats all dynamically running with nothing to configure. Enjoy.

Treatment Method Editing

April 2012. Every Work Order shows six Treatment Method Numbers with their names right above the products used. In the past these values were preset. Now, they are editable from ‘Set Preferences’ on the ‘Work Order’ tab! As more and more companies use PestaRoo in new and creative ways, this will enhance PestaRoo’s ability to fit the way you run your business. PestaRoo has always been the most customizable software product in the pest control industry, and the easiest to use. Now it is more so. Credits on Statements

April 2012. Statements now show unused Credits. In addition, the entire statement has been redone for visual clarity and attractiveness. For some customers, the Work Orders and Statement are the only thing from you that they see. So we want you to look you best. We have spent a large amount of time making these look their very best!

Balance Forward on Work Orders Includes Credits

April 2012. In Home Page Preferences you can set an option to have the balance forward for the customer print at the bottom of each WO. We have added two enhancements to this. Now the display shows both Unpaid Invoice Totals and/or Unused Credits. Also, you can turn on this feature for individual customers without turning it on for everyone. From Customer Info, click on the ‘Pref’ tab and set the ‘Show Balance Forward on WO’ to ‘Yes’.

Red Header Warnings

April 2012. Great software should be subtly self-training. For example, when entering a phone number for a customer if you don’t have enough digits, the number turns reds. Fix the issue and the ‘red’ goes away. Subtle, but an effective way to let you know something is probably wrong. Now, we have extended this concept to six new areas. Customers, Locations, Agreements, Invoices, PreScheds, and Work Orders. In each case, missing a required field makes the header name, like ‘Customer’, turn red. Once corrected, the header returns to its normal blue. When the header name is red, you can ‘mouseover’ it to have a tooltip show you the field(s) that are missing. Effective and simple.

Credit Naming

March 2012. The ability to easily manage Credits for customers has proven to be a valuable new addition. To support those companies that use numerous credit per customer, we’ve added the ability to describe and name the individual credits. So, you can have credits for different areas or locations. These credit names and notes are available from within in the payment screen which is where they are needed. And, of course, Credit Notes are also supported by the Search All Notes function.

Printing Customer Notes

March 2012. Another well loved feature in PestaRoo is the ‘Notes’ that are available for Customers. Keeping all your contact notes in one place is really handy and a key part of customer service. Names of kids, anniversary dates and other key tidbits can be kept for each customer. Now, from within the ‘Edit Notes’ screen you can print all the notes for a given customer. Works nice an easy. And don’t forget the the “Search All Notes” from Home Page, includes the Customer Notes also.

Enhanced Logging of PreScheds

March 2012. One of PestaRoo’s most powerful features, ‘PreScheds’, just got better! From the earliest versions of PestaRoo, we have provided a full log of all WOs that each record PreSched created. We have now enhanced this log to show which WO’s were created by using the ‘Single Trigger’ button. This ‘Single Trigger’ button is popularly used when setting up a new PreSched where the customer wants service immediately, and doesn’t want to wait for the next ‘Trigger’ cycle. WO’s created via this button now are flagged with an asterisk (*) in the log. This allows you to quickly review any newly created PreSched and know immediately where in it cycle it is. Nice! Also we have added a field showing the last trigger date. These two changes further enhance an already powerful function in PestaRoo, while not making it harder to use.
